Summer Academy - Language Courses in German – Leibniz University Hannover

People in Hannover speak German as it is written – an ideal location to learn German during the summer. In addition, Summer Academy courses include an exciting social programme to ensure there is plenty of time to explore Hannover and experience German culture.

Target group - students and prospective students

Application deadline – June 1st, 2025 (There is always a minimum number of applicants required for each course of the different German levels, just as there is a maximum number of applicants for each course!)

Course fee (language course in class and social programme) - 750 euros

Accommodation (hall of residence) - 350 euros

For the summer courses, DAAD provides scholarships.

Der erste Monat, in dem ich in Deutschland gelebt habe, war wirklich unglaublich.

Courses on Offer

The courses run from July 3rd to 28th, 2025 resp. from August 4th to 27th, 2025 in German.

(Rooms will be available between July 2nd to 30th, 11 a.m., 2025 resp. from August 2nd to 29th, 11 a.m., 2025).

The course fee is 750 euros and includes the registration fee, course material and the general social program.

Up to 15 participants per course could be taken.

Crediting of ECTS points is possible!

The course duration is 25 hours per week, on 18 school days, from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CET.

Intensive German Course Beginners Level A2 (only from August 4th to 27th, 2025)

Language level: Beginners Level A2 (requirement: completed A1 level, at least 200 lessons of German)

Prerequisites: Prospective students and beginners with little knowledge of German

Course description: Exercises to practise listening comprehension, reading, writing, and oral communication skills. The course covers every-day life in Germany and cultural aspects, as well as basic German vocabulary, grammar, and syntax.
Intensive German Course Advanced Level B1 to B2 (from July 3rd to 28th resp. from August 4th to 27th, 2025)

Language level: Intermediate Level B1; Intermediate Level B2
(B1-requirement: completed A2 level, at least 400 lessons of German; B2-requirement: completed B1 level, at least 600 lessons of German)

Prerequisites: Prospective students and participants with prior knowledge of German

Course description: Exercises to practise listening comprehension, reading, writing, and oral communication skills. The course covers life in Germany as well as cultural aspects. Exercises to practise German grammar and syntax on an intermediate level; participants will improve their vocabulary.

FURTHER PROGRAM CONTENT

Social Programme
There will be a social programme with daily activities for all participants. All activities are free of charge and include
outings in Hannover and the surrounding region
exkursions to other cities
cultural activities,
sports activities,
film nights,
a welcome reception,
as well as a farewell party.
Accomodation

Accommodation: Accommodation: A single room in one of the halls of residence of "Studierendenwerk" (shared bathroom and kitchen) may be provided upon request. Rooms in halls of residence cost 350 euros per month. Further information on halls of residence in Hannover can be found here.
Meals

Meals: Meals are not included in the accommodation fee. However, meals at student prices are available in the cafeterias managed by Student Services. Further information on prices and the menu can be found here.
Public Transport

Public transport: International students who would like to use public transport in Hannover, can buy a monthly pass for 50 euros (either a so called "Deutschland-Ticket" or a "Monatsticket" for public transport use only in Hannover). Insurance

Please ensure sufficient insurance cover for the duration of your stay!!!

DAAD scholarship holders will obtain Health Insurance Protection from DAAD.
Payment
Payment: You will receive an invoice after the registration. The full amount must be paid within 14 days from the date the invoice was received. We will send you a letter of invitation once the registration fee has been received. Payment by credit card is not possible.

Please note that the following fees will be charged in the case of cancellation:

Cancellations received 6 weeks prior to the start of the course: 100 euros

Cancellations received later than 6 weeks prior to the start of the course: 100 % of the course fees

Die super Erlebnisse, die Programme, die Menschen und neue Freundschafte… alles war einfach perfekt! Dieser Sommer war ein wichtiges Erlebnis für uns alle, wir werden es nie vergessen.

Ich habe der ganzen Universität erzählt, was für wundervolle Menschen an der Leibniz Uni arbeiten. Sie alle machen einen unglaublich tollen Job: Motivation geben und helfen sehr beim Erlernen der Sprache!

Ich bin sehr froh, einen schönen Sommer mit lieben Studenten und euch in Hannover zu verbringen. Diese Zeit ist sehr schön und kann ich nie vergessen.
