Dear students and colleagues,
The German federal and state governments have reached decisions on the further course of action regarding the pandemic. In light of this, the Presidential Board of Leibniz University Hannover too has once again discussed this issue. Therefore, I would like to provide some information on regulations at LUH in the summer semester.
Please also check our FAQ website on the coronavirus pandemic for detailed information on current measures applying at the university.
Since the number of infections is still high, university management has decided to maintain FFP2 mask requirements inside of LUH buildings as well as in lectures/courses in order to safeguard teaching, research and administrative processes at the university (see FAQ section 2.1.1), based on domiciliary rights. Please protect yourself and others by acting responsibly, especially with regard to vulnerable groups at our university. This is an act of solidarity in addition to limiting staff shortages in all LUH departments.
Moreover, the 3G rule still applies for access to university buildings. Even though compliance with this requirement cannot be monitored due to the lack of a legal basis, I would like to urge all of you to observe this rule.
Provided that compliance with the 2G+ rule has been officially verified on a voluntary basis by all participants, face masks must no longer be worn during work-related meetings or small lectures/courses.
The 3G rule also applies for events of a public nature with external guests (e.g. readings, receptions, conferences, graduation ceremonies). Based on domiciliary rights, compliance with the 3G rule must be monitored by the organiser. Moreover, face mask requirements in LUH buildings must be observed in this context.
With these protective measures, the Presidential Board intends to ensure an overall trouble-free semester conducted on campus. Depending on the development of the pandemic, these measures may be modified. If this is the case, we will inform you immediately.
I would like to use this opportunity to welcome our new students in the summer semester on campus!
I wish you all the best for summer semester 2022 as well as much joy, curiosity and positive experiences at your university!
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Volker Epping
President of Leibniz University Hannover
