Three more members reappointed to the university body

With seven members, the University Council of Leibniz University Hannover is once again complete. Professor Christine Falk, who has held a professorship in transplant immunology at Hannover Medical School (MHH) since November 2010, joined the university body on 1 June 2019. She studied biology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where she was conferred a doctorate and completed her habilitation in immunology at the Faculty of Biology. Before taking up her professorship at MHH, she worked for the German Cancer Research Center and taught molecular cell biology at Heidelberg University. Previously, Professor Falk was involved in various high-ranking committees, such as German Cancer Aid. She currently acts as president elect of the German Society of Immunology (DGfI). She succeeds Professor Axel Haverich in office.

Three more members of the University Council, whose offices ended in April (Professor Mlynek and Professor Bobzin), were reappointed by the Presidential Board and the Senate for another term. Professor Mlynek was reappointed as chairperson of the University Council, Professor Bobzin as deputy chairperson. Furthermore, the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK) reappointed Carsten Mühlenmeier (Ministerialdirigent) as a member of the University Council.

The University Council advises the Presidential Board and the Senate on strategic issues regarding university development and is represented by experts from the business community, academia, and politics.
