After eight years of continuous growth, LUH once again exceeded the previous year''s figures in winter semester 2018/19. 29,781 students are enrolled at Leibniz University Hannover in winter semester 2018/19 (excluding students on leave) - a year ago the figure was 28,742.
5,413 new students commenced a bachelor''s degree programme or a state examination course at Leibniz University Hannover in the winter semester. 2,699 new students are enrolled in a master''s degree programme. Overall, 8,112 new students were admitted.
Most new students are enrolled in the restricted degree programmes Economics and Management (621) and Law (416), followed by the unrestricted degree programmes Computer Science (383), Civil and Environmental Engineering (325), Mechanical Engineering (304), Philosophy (interdisciplinary bachelor''s degree, 274), and Mathematics (interdisciplinary bachelor''s degree, 245).
Compared to the previous year, the number of students interested in master''s degree programmes has increased by 10 percent. The most popular master''s degree programmes are Economics and Management (481 students), Mechanical Engineering (221), and Special Needs Education (158). With 261 admissions, the number of students commencing a Master''s Teacher Training Course for Grammar Schools remains constant.
Approximately 4,286 new students from abroad are enrolled at Leibniz University Hannover in the winter semester. This significantly exceeds last year''s peak (3,696). Most international students are from China (1,191), Tunisia (332), India (357) or Iran (312).
