To acknowledge existing collaborations, the Federal Foreign Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation initiated the German-Russian Year of Higher Education Cooperation and Science. Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) joins the theme year with its partner university, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU).
This year, the universities celebrate the 35th anniversary of their collaboration. Within the scope of the theme year, LUH and SPbPU have organised two conferences on "Cyber-Physical Systems and Control" and "High-Speed Turbomachinery and Electric Drives", as well as a seminar on "Digitisation in Higher Education". The events will be held at the partner university in St. Petersburg on 10 and 11 June 2019. On this occasion, Professor Andrei Rudskoi, Rector of SPbPU, will be appointed an honorary member of the LUH senate in recognition of his outstanding contributions and dedication to promoting the international visibility of the partnership.
Two postgraduate double degree programmes, one trilateral master''s degree programme in collaboration with Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland, research projects, as well as mobility opportunities for students, teaching staff, researchers, and administrators connect both universities and foster the expansion of the partnership.
