Great success for Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) in this year’s ranking of the Centre for Higher Education (CHE), which rates master''s degree programmes. Both fields are among the top-ranking degree programmes in several categories. They were particularly successful in the category “international orientation”.
The CHE ranking evaluates more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences in German-speaking countries. In order to ensure transparency and provide information for prospective students, both bachelor’s and master''s degree programmes are closely examined on a regular basis. In this round, the master''s degree programmes Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Psychology, and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology were evaluated.
The degree programmes Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering at LUH achieved outstanding results in the category “international orientation”. In addition to the verdict of students, other aspects were taken into account within the scope of this category, including the number of international students, foreign-language study programmes, and joint degree programmes with international universities. “I am delighted that our intensive internationalisation efforts bear fruit on multiple levels and that our master''s degree programmes in engineering are of particular interest for international students and researchers”, said Prof. Dr. Volker Epping, President of LUH.
Civil Engineering also ranks among the top fields in the categories “professional experience in the master''s degree programme” and “funding per researcher”. Furthermore, Mechanical Engineering is one of the top-ranking fields in the categories “funding per researcher” and “doctorates per professor”.
The CHE university ranking is the most extensive ranking in German-speaking countries and examines more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences by interviewing more than 150,000 students. In addition to facts on studies, teaching, and research, the ranking comprises opinions of students regarding the conditions at their university. All results of the master''s degree programme ranking are available at www.zeit.de/masterranking.
