The new computer engineering building
Appelstraße 4
Computer engineering is a young branch of science. In 1999, a separate building was constructed at Appelstraße 4, specifically for this discipline.
The building brings together four institutes from the department Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, which were previously spread across several buildings. These and other institutes from the department of mathematics and computer science formed the basis of the new “Computer Science” department established in 2002, which was able to address the sudden increase in demand with its own bachelor's and master's degree programmes.
A key feature is the multimedia lecture hall located at the back of the building. Its semicircular shape makes it instantly recognisable from the outside. The lecture hall can accommodate 160 people. The new building is connected to the adjacent physics building via a bridge.
