The park building
Nienburger Straße 17
The park building at Nienburger Straße 17 was built in 1895. It was initially used as a restaurant and now houses several university departments. Technische Hochschule Hannover leased part of the building in 1963 – initially as a temporary solution – and bought it three years later.
The Institute of Measurement and Automatic Control, the Institute of Geobotany, facilities of the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Development department as well as the Institute of High Voltage Technology moved into the building.
Its name and proximity to the Herrenhausen Gardens still indicate the former purpose of the park building as a restaurant and tourist destination.
