Introduction to Modern Concepts of Project Management

Work in projects increasingly determines everyday work of employees at universities. However, systematic qualification in project management only takes place in a few cases during studies and doctoral studies.

In this course the participants will get an overview of the most crucial project management approaches, followed by the advantages and disadvantages of different project management strategies. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to try out various tools and techniques and work on a plan for their project.

Participants will know how to use proven project management methods practically and will be familiar with the essential aspects of planning and executing projects.

The following topics will be covered:

  • classical and agile project management
  • selection of appropriate methods
  • planning and initiating projects successfully
  • collaborating and communicating in projects in a focused manner
  • working in iterations
  • monitoring project status
  • Kanban and visual planning and project controlling
  • practical tips and tools
