Basics for Communicating in German in Everyday Life (Niveau A1)

Would you like to start learning German and improve your language skills so that you can communicate with other students and colleagues in your everyday life? This course will help you master everyday conversational situations at Leibniz University Hannover.

The course is an ongoing event throughout the year and new participants are welcome on request.

Course topics:

  • communication in everyday working life (greetings and introductions, describing people and objects, finding your way around campus)
  • dealing with numbers and times
  • daily routine (e.g. asking for information and describing simple procedures)
  • describing personal topics simply (e.g. well-being, leisure time, family)

Target Group Description

academic staff or visiting academics from abroad with little or no knowledge of German language

Participation Requirements

no to very little previous knowledge of the German language, readiness to participate regualarly

Guideline for participation in the language courses

The language courses offered in the training and qualification programme are systematised according to the competence levels of the Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This provides a benchmark for the acquisition of language skills and aims to make different language certificates comparable with each other.
