Postdoctoral Scholar (m/f/d) in the Theory of Quantum Computation

The group of Prof. Robert Raußendorf at the Institute of Theoretical Physics welcomes applications for the following position starting March 2025: Postdoctoral Scholar (m/f/d) in the Theory of Quantum Computation (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 100 %)

The position is initially limited for three years.

Your role

The responsibility is conduct research that advances our understanding of quantum computation at the fundamental level. Possible areas of research include - but are not confined to – quantum algorithms, measurement-based quantum computation, quantum error correction and fault-tolerance, quantum computer architecture, synthetic quantum matter, and connections with foundations of quantum mechanics.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate must hold a university science degree in Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science. Furthermore, we expect a relevant PhD degree and a solid background in quantum information. In addition, knowledge in one/some of the following fields may be helpful: Quantum Optics, Condensed Matter Physics, Graph Theory, Algebraic Topology, Number Theory
