University Professorship in School Pedagogy with focus on Educational Innovation and Change

The Institute of Educational Science at the Faculty of Humanities invites applications for the following position of salary scale W2 NBesO starting as soon as possible: University Professorship in School Pedagogy with focus on Educational Innovation and Change

The Position

The professorship to be filled at the Institute of Educational Science (IEW) at LUH is intended to play a decisive role in shaping and advancing the field of school development in research and teaching. In research, the professorship deals theoretically and empirically with the development of schools as learning organisations. The focus is on data-based school development, evidence-informed decision-making by the various stakeholders in the multi-level school system and transformation processes in schools. In teaching, the professorship will offer courses in the field of school development. These courses are part of the secondary school teaching programs (interdisciplinary BA, MA for secondary school teaching), the special education programs (BA and MA), as well as the MA in Educational Sciences.

The professorship actively participates in the establishment, development, and institutionalization of the newly founded "Center for Empirical Educational Research" (ZEB) and leads one of its research areas. The center, in collaborative partnership with several universities in Lower Saxony, aims to enhance the visibility of empirical educational research in Lower Saxony and to deliver research achievements at an internationally leading level. Additionally, the professorship serves as a liaison to the "Research Alliance for Intervention, Implementation, and Transfer Research" (FIT).

Your Profile

Leibniz University Hannover is looking for a scientifically outstanding person who can represent the position in research and teaching.

  • Doctorate in educational science or a closely related subject
  • Relevant publications in national and international journals
  • Above-average pedagogical aptitude demonstrated by very well evaluated teaching
  • Methodological expertise in empirical-quantitative research, competencies in processing and reusing large data sets from educational monitoring
  • Ability to teach at university level in English
  • Sound knowledge of implementation research with a focus on transformative school development processes and innovative school concepts
  • Experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding and collaborative projects.

The following is also desirable:

  • a research profile that is compatible with the Centre for Empirical Educational Research and the Research Alliance for Intervention, Implementation and Transfer Research
  • Experience in the interaction between educational research, educational administration and school practice
  • Willingness to co-operate with the research priorities of the IEW, the faculty and other research priorities of the university
  • Cooperation with the Leibniz School of Education (LSE)
