Student Assistant for the L3S’s Offshore-II Project

(up to 60 hours per month)

The L3S Research Center is an internationally renowned research centre for basic and applied research in the field of artificial intelligence for digital transformation, founded in 2001. The L3S research centre develops forward-looking research methods and technologies for the digital transformation and researches

The L3S Research Centre welcomes applications for the following position to start at the next possible time: Student Assistant for the L3S’s Offshore-II Project (up to 60 hours per month)

This position is limited to the end of the project on January 31, 2026.

Your role

Your tasks will include supporting or collaborating in:

  • Reimplementing a MATLAB package into Python
  • Configure the package, so that it is compatible with other libraries
  • Developing a process discovery algorithm for Generalised Stochastic Petri Nets
  • Creating Repositories and Documentation

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Enrolment at a German university
  • Advanced Bachelor's degree or beginning of a master's degree in computer science, electronics, mechatronics or similar
  • Very good or good knowledge of English and German
  • Very good knowledge of MATLAB, Python, Git
  • Prior knowledge of Process Mining and/or Petri Nets theory is a plus
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team, reliability, sense of responsibility and flexibility
