Research Assistant (PhD Position) - Integrated photonic quantum system

The Institute of Photonics (IOP) welcomes applications for the following position starting at the earliest possible date: Research Assistant (PhD Position) - Integrated photonic quantum system (salary scale 13 TV-L, 75 %)

The position is limited for 3.5 years.

Your role

This project focuses on the design and implementation of integrated fiber-based photonic quantum systems using a time-frequency based approach for applications in information processing. The project includes the exploration of novel optical manipulation schemes in integrated devices.

Who are we looking for?

Applicants to the position must have a relevant scientific university degree (Diploma or Master), for example in physics, optical technologies, photonics and optics, electrical engineering. The ideal candidate has a strong background in optics and photonics and quantum mechanics. Knowledge in quantum information science is desirable. The candidate should have the ability and willingness to work together with experts from a broad background in science and technology. In addition, very good communication skills in English, oral as well as written, are expected.
