Digital tools make studying easier – whether you are learning together and exchanging files, or researching and managing literature, managing exams or organising your studies.
Leibniz University Hannover provides students with a well-developed digital infrastructure for self-administration, for study organisation and to facilitate their learning.
IdM – Account management
IdM stands for "Identity Management" at Leibniz University Hannover. In the central account management system, students can independently manage various accounts related to online student life (such as WiFi, cloud services and the learning management systems). The IdM is therefore also referred to as the "central login page". Students can access the account management system using their LUH-ID, which they receive when they enrol.
WebSSO is the short form of Web Single Sign-On and describes the process of logging into your own account via a service and then having access to all online services without having to additionally log in to the individual services with your login data.
Stud.IP – Portal for all courses
Stud.IP is the central learning management system to support all courses.
Services (selection):
- Registration for courses
- Timetable creation and schedule management
- Provision of content for courses (e.g. file storage, schedules and flow charts, literature lists, uploads of lecture recordings)
- Communication with lecturers and fellow students via system message, discussion forum, appointments for (virtual) consultation hours, "Blubber" (new posts and responses in real time, similar to a pinboard in the usual social networks) or Matrix messenger chats (privately or for events)
- Recordings of lectures
- Bulletin board for offers and requests (e.g. furniture, books, housing)
- Video conferences via BigBlueButton (meetings) to be held within courses and study groups, for virtual teamwork or hybrid scenarios in courses
QIS – Exam administration
QIS is the central portal for exam administration. Students can only register and deregister for exams online via the QIS portal. You can also use the portal to
- print your transcript of records,
- view an overview of your examination and/or study achievements,
- download and print out your enrolment certificate.
You register using your LUH-ID and the QIS password, which is identical to the account manager's password (please do not use your previous application data!).
SOGo – Email and calendar
Students can use a calendar and a webmailer via the SOGo software. Email communication from LUH is only sent to your official student email address, so we strongly advise you to check your inbox regularly. Of course, the mailbox can also be integrated into a mail client, such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple mail.
WiFi and VPN
Students can apply for WiFi and VPN access with their LUH-ID via the IdM. Students receive the access data for the IdM login with their re-registration documents. The uni-WLAN Eduroam is valid throughout Europe!
ILIAS – Learning management system
The ILIAS learning management system supports the design and organisation of teaching at Leibniz University with numerous functions. In particular, ILIAS can be used to promote autonomous learning by students.
Features include:
- Online learning modules in which text, illustrations, videos and tests can be combined into a coherent learning unit with interactive elements
- Tests that can be used, for example, as coursework or for e-exams
- Practice tools to support the implementation and organisation of learning tasks
- Blogs, portfolios, flashcard training, video annotations and live voting for lecture hall votes
- Common communication tools such as wiki or forum
- Currently being tested in the LUH-ILIAS: a selection of H5P content elements with which interactive (learning) content can be integrated
Campus management system
The "campus management system with SAP" project is still under construction. The main goal of the project is to effectively and efficiently streamline and support administrative processes for students, from the application phase and the allocation of study places through enrolment and fee management, course planning, exam organisation and the monitoring of study performance to graduation and the generation of certificates.
An integrated solution will enable students to complete the steps necessary for their studies quickly, easily and with as little effort as possible. So far only a limited number of functions have been activated for students – but the system will be expanded step by step and will replace other LUH services.
