Short Description

The master’s degree programme combines all aspects of the traditional roles of civil engineers in an interesting, varied course portfolio. Students gain extensive knowledge in aspects such as the analysis of structures, construction management and the application of numerical simulation methods. In the process, students make use of cutting-edge scientific methods, highly practice-based teaching and interdisciplinary cooperation with other fields of science and engineering.

Four specialisations – Structural Engineering, Water and Coastal Engineering, Construction Management, and Wind Energy Engineering – enable students to specialise in their chosen area with a view to pursuing a career in industry, research or the public sector. Since the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science has extensive experience in these future-oriented subject areas, it offers the perfect study environment and provides a direct reference to current research projects.

Course Structure

You may choose from four areas of specialisation:

  • Structural Engineering
  • Water and Coastal Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Wind Energy Engineering

Depending on your chosen specialisation, you will take different compulsory and optional modules in the special skills areas “Mathematical and Scientific Foundations”, “Subject-Specific Foundations”, “Subject-Specific Specialisation” and “General Content”. In the third semester, students may study abroad. The fourth semester is set aside for completion of an interdisciplinary project and preparation of the master’s thesis.

In the “Structural Engineering” specialisation, you may also pursue distance learning while in employment, wherever it suits you. With the methodological and personal skills acquired on this research-based master’s degree programme, you will be fully prepared for achieving success in your chosen career and for pursuing lifelong learning.

  • June 1st – July 15th of the year for the winter semester
  • December 1st – January 15th of the year for the summer semester

First-year students from non-EU countries (VPD from uni-assist is required)

  • April 15th – May 31st of the year for the winter semester
  • October 15th – November 30th of the previous year for the summer semester

Students resuming their studies and transfer students from Germany and the EU (application in a higher semester)
