Leaders have a major impact on individuals and teams doing their jobs well, on the development and implementation of organisational objectives and on the satisfaction of all staff.
Discussions with the university’s staff in leadership positions showed that a guide to good leadership could be a useful resource. Consequently, in early 2013, the presidential board instigated a participatory process throughout the university to develop leadership guidelines. The ten leadership guidelines were adopted by the senate in 2014 and complement Leibniz University Hannover’s mission statement regarding employee management.
The purpose of the leadership guidelines and the leadership roadmap is to raise awareness among staff in leadership positions and employees of the importance of leadership in achieving good outcomes for everyone in the workplace and to help staff in leadership positions to excel in this respect. This is the purpose of the range of diverse programmes for research, technical and administrative staff in leadership positions.
