Events for Doctoral Candidates, Postdocs and Researchers

Have you recently arrived at LUH as a doctoral candidate and would like to get some important information and meet new people in one afternoon? Then come to our welcome session followed by a social get-together. Here you will get to know part of the team responsible for supervising international doctoral candidates, receive information about important basics and be introduced to the event program. Afterwards you can get to know each other and ask individual questions to the team.

One of the hidden gems in Hannover is our peerless ice hockey club. Sports fan or not, get drawn into this unique sportsclub that actually only plays in the 3rd tier of german ice hockey competition, but still has a sold out arena nearly every game with its passionate fans.

Hannover has a long cinema history. We will be going to one of the smaller cinemas in Hannover. As the screening programmes are announced shortly beforehand, you will be sent information about the film and the location by email. The date may also change as a result.

If you didn´t know, Hannover has an international airport and we have a chance to see behind the curtain. We get a look into aviation, logistics and even the fire department with an english speaking tour guide.

In Germany we say "Too many Cooks spoil the porridge", but we try it either way. In our office kitchen we want to work together to create a hopefully tasty meal for us. What the dish will be can be voted on right before the event.

Some of the biggest benefits of Hannover are its vast green areas across the city. One of the most beautiful places are the lush alluvial lands in the south of the city. Put your safari hats on and lets explore a bit of this city-near nature reserve.

The International Office offers a German course level A1.2 (basic knowledge already available) in cooperation with the Bildungsverein. This course comprises 30 teaching units. This course is designed for International doctoral candidates, researchers and postdocs. 

Participation fee: 140€ per person + workbook

There are new academic requirements, unwritten rules and it is not uncommon to be overwhelmed. In this short workshop, you will get to know some German peculiarities better and can link them to your own experiences as researchers at LUH. Through visualization, interactive methods and discussions, you will have the opportunity to better understand your environment and make your future in Germany easier. This workshop is suitable for newcomers as well as for PhD students & PostDocs who have been in Germany for some time and want to broaden their understanding of Germany as an academic landscape.

The workshop will be led by a intercultural trainer who herself has had a lot of experience at educational institutions in other countries.
