The Faculty of Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for the following position within salary scale W1 of the Lower Saxony salary system (NBesO) to be appointed at the earliest possible date: Junior Professorship (m/f/d) in the field of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence and Causality

The position is limited to three years with a renewal option for a further three years.

The Position

The future position holder should represent the field of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence and Causality in research and teaching. The professorship is intended to advance the relevant state of the art in the areas of trustworthy artificial intelligence, causal representation learning and causal models, and to further develop and apply these in the field of medicine.

Leibniz University Hannover is one of the locations of the newly established Lower Saxony research center for artificial intelligence and causal methods in medicine – CAIMed. At CAIMed, international teams research and develop innovative methods at the interface between AI and personalized medicine and contribute to tackling common diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections.

The junior professorship complements the faculty’s "Artificial Intelligence" research focus as well as research in this area at the L3S Research Center and is part of CAIMed. Active participation in teaching in the field of Trustworthy AI and Causal Representation Learning and the acquisition of third-party funded projects is expected, joint work in the context of L3S is possible and desired.

Your Profile

An excellent PhD on current topics in the context of artificial intelligence as well as relevant publications in trustworthy artificial intelligence and causal methods are prerequisites for the appointment. International collaborations and project experience are an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to hold selected courses in English.
