Research assistant (m/f/d) in the field of Immunological Research/ Biotechnology

The Institute of Technical Chemistry (TCI) conducts biotechnological research in all its facets. Currently, around 100 scientific staff - including Bachelor's and Master's students as well as (post-)doctoral students - are involved in a large number of interdisciplinary and cross-sector research projects as well as collaborations with industrial partners.

The following position is available at the TCI at the earliest possible date: Research assistant (m/f/d) in the field of Immunological Research/ Biotechnology (salary scale 13 TV-L, 67 %)

The position is limited to 36 months and is part of a joint project with Hannover Medical School, Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts and two biotechnology companies in Lower Saxony entitled "HLA streptamers to improve diagnostics and individualised T cell therapy for polyomavirus infection after transplantation". The aim is to improve diagnostics in kidney transplant patients with polyomavirus nephropathy, which can lead to transplant failure. Prof Dr Blume's working group (head of the network) is based at the TCI.  

Your position at a glance

Your research task includes the development of a lateral flow assay (LFA) for the urine detection of the biomarker CXCL10 in polyoma virus-associated graft nephropathy. The work is accompanied by a biotechnological company. Your work is based on preliminary work by the Blume group in the field of lateral flow assays, which is supervised by an experienced member of staff. The possibility of a doctorate is given.

Who are we looking for?

The prerequisite for recruitment is a university degree (Master's or comparable degree) in a relevant subject, e.g. biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, life sciences, human biology, biology.

In addition, we expect the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge in the field of immunology and protein biochemistry
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and molecular biology software such as Snap Gene
  • Very good written and spoken English and German language skills for scientific presentations and the supervision of students are desirable.
