Flexible Work Models

Working from home and mobile work

At Leibniz University Hannover, work-from-home or mobile-work options make it easier for employees to balance family and work, and to meet their need for increased autonomy, mobility and flexibility. Both working from home and mobile work are voluntary. The opportunity to work in this way stems from Leibniz University Hannover’s work culture, which is based on trust and appreciation.

Working from home

Working from home (previously termed teleworking) is when employees regularly complete some of their individual working hours at a set location outside the workplace and some of their hours at the workplace. A minimum of 1/5 of the individual’s weekly hours of work need to be completed at the workplace, and a minimum of 1/5 of the weekly hours of work need to be completed at the external location. The exact allocation of hours is determined in consultation with the employee’s supervisor.

Mobile work

Mobile work is when employees periodically complete some of their individual working hours (up to 30 per cent of their individual weekly work hours per half a calendar year) outside the workplace, either by the hour or by the day. The exact amount is determined in consultation with the employee’s supervisor.
