It is a matter of course and, moreover, specified in law that no person may experience disadvantages during their studies due to health impairments. There are clear rules that should ensure equal opportunities among students. However, these rules may sometimes be interpreted differently, or they may be unable to compensate adequately for a disadvantage. In such cases, it must then be assessed whether – and how – assistance can be given on a case-by-case basis.
If you are impaired by a disability or chronic illness, you should not hesitate to take advantage of the opportunities of disability compensation or to seek advice on any questions about studying with a disability.

This workstation is located on the ground floor of the TIB site at Königsworther Platz, which has barrier-free access.
Please note: Unfortunately, the workstation cannot be used at the moment. If you have any questions, please contact the information desk at the Conti Campus on 0511 762-8119.
Borrowing aids
The following aids can be borrowed from Leibniz Universität at present:
- Standing aids – when students are unable to stand for longer periods, but need to do so for a certain academic assignment
- Therapy tables – to enable students in wheelchairs to write notes in lectures and seminars (the wheelchair must be equipped with armrests for this)
- Laptops – to enable students to read and write sufficiently large print texts. The laptop can only be used for written work (not for calculations); it does not provide access to the internet.
- Euro key - Some locks on toilet doors or lifts can only be opened with the Euro key. If you don't have one, you can borrow one.
- Swell touch paper maschine- teaching materials can be printed on swell touch paper and thus be made readable for visually impaired students. The printer belongs to the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and is lent to other institutes.
- Books "Deutsche Rechtschreibung" (German spelling) and "Universalwörterbuch" (Universal dictionary) - can be borrowed by students with a reading and spelling disability and a corresponding disadvantage compensation. The books belong to the Institute for Special Education.
If you are interested in any of these aids, please contact Christiane Stolz:
