Partner Institutions
At the partner institutions of the Leibniz University Hannover in India, it is possible to undertake study, research, and practical stays of varying durations. Opportunities include tuition-free study stays, summer school programs, research stays for the preparation of a study or thesis, internships in institutes and research facilities, language assistance, and doctoral studies.
IIT Bombay
IIT Bombay was founded in 1958 and is a highly renowned public technical university located in Powai, a northern suburb of Mumbai. It has 13 faculties in natural and engineering sciences, as well as a humanities faculty. Additionally, there is a faculty for industrial design. The green campus offers 14 hostels for both domestic and international students, with two of them exclusively for female students. As the campus borders the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, it is not uncommon to encounter native wildlife there.
Established in 1958, IIT Bombay stands as a premier autonomous institution dedicated to advancing education, research, and engineering technology in India. In recognition of its significant contributions, IIT Bombay was conferred the esteemed status of "Institute of National Importance" by the Parliament of India in 1961 and later recognized as an "Institute of Eminence" by the Ministry of Education in 2008. Currently, IIT Bombay is ranked #1 in India and #118 in QS World University Rankings 2025.

IIT Delhi
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is located in the capital of India, New Delhi. IIT Delhi is considered one of the best technical universities in the country and also has a strong international reputation. The IIT Delhi campus is situated in the picturesque Hauz Khas area, close to other educational institutions. The campus resembles a small town, complete with student residences, gardens, wide roads, and shopping facilities. Students have access to various sports facilities, as well as opportunities for workshops, theater, and other recreational activities.
IIT Indore
The Indian Institute of Technology Indore is a prestigious technical and research university in India. Founded in 2009, it offers a wide range of programs in engineering, natural sciences, and technology. The campus is located in Simrol, about 25 kilometers from Indore. IIT Indore boasts a highly qualified faculty and is renowned for its research activities. Graduates have excellent career prospects, and the university collaborates closely with both national and international institutions.
IIT Kharagpur
The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, commonly known as IIT Kharagpur, is a prestigious public technical university located in the state of West Bengal, founded in 1951. As one of the leading technical institutions in India, it offers a wide range of programs, including aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, mining engineering, biotechnology, as well as humanities and social sciences. With a diverse student body of around 2,700 students from various parts of the country and beyond, the university provides 19 student residences to ensure comfortable accommodation.
IIT Madras
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), founded in 1959 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, enjoys an excellent reputation in India and is one of the country's leading technical universities. It comprises 11 engineering and 5 non-engineering departments. The campus includes 18 student residences and is located within the Guindy National Park, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. IIT Madras currently hosts 6,000 students, including both local and international students, and has developed into a significant educational center in South India.
IIT Mandi
The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) was founded in 2009 as one of eight new technical universities. The university is located in northern India at the foothills of the Himalayas, over 1000 meters above sea level in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The IIT Mandi campus is about 18 kilometers from the historic town of Mandi and offers students a conducive academic environment with all the amenities for a high standard of living. There are modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and other recreational amenities. All modules and courses are conducted in English.
Ashoka University
Ashoka University is India’s leading visual arts and sciences university, offering lifelong learning programs at various levels, from undergraduate to postgraduate and Young India Fellowship (YIF) programs, as well as continuing education programs for busy professionals. In addition to academic courses, the Summer Office promotes social, cultural, and professional activities outside the classroom. These include visits to cultural sites, social gatherings, group meetings, and weekend activities, creating a holistic educational experience.
Central Leather Research Institute Chennai
The Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), founded in 1948 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is the world’s largest leather research institute and a pioneer in leather processing. In addition to designing high-quality leather products, CLRI is deeply involved in research and development to create new strategies and technologies for leather processing. This significantly contributes to the innovation and sustainability of the leather industry. CLRI has an international focus and provides a dedicated hostel for foreign students to ensure a comprehensive academic experience.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune) is located in the city of Pune in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. Around 1,000 students are enrolled at IISER Pune. The institute is a leading institution dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed the Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared an Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament.
Manipal University
Manipal University, located near the city of Udupi in the Indian state of Karnataka, is one of the first government-recognized and top-ranked private universities in India. With more than 28,000 enrolled students from 57 countries, the university offers educational opportunities in various fields. In addition to medicine, dentistry, health, pharmacy, and nursing, programs are also available in engineering, information and communication sciences, and management. The university is supported by approximately 2,500 faculty members and another 10,000 administrative staff.
Symbiosis International University
Founded in 1971, Symbiosis International University (SIU) in Pune, Maharashtra, is a private institution that hosts around 29,400 students. Its outstanding feature is the strong presence of international students, highlighted by the motto "World as One Family." SIU offers a wide range of academic programs across seven faculties, including law, business studies, media studies, and health sciences. With nine different campus locations and residential facilities for both domestic and international students, the university serves as a globally oriented educational hub.
Vellore Institute of Technology
The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) was founded in 1984 and is located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. VIT is a private university with approximately 15,000 students. It is highly regarded in India, particularly for its technical programs. The university has nine faculties offering courses such as information technology, biotechnology, mechanical engineering, and many more. There are 17 student residences available for both domestic and international students. VIT places great emphasis on internationalization and has one of the best International Offices in the country.
There are collaboration at university level for all students of the Leibniz University, as well as collaboration at the faculty level, specifically for students of the respective faculties.
