Short Description
The subject Music is offered as one of two subjects within the Master’s Teacher Training Course for Grammar Schools.
The programme aims to bring together artistic, specialized and pedagogical as well as educational knowledge and skills, which prepare students for admission to the preparatory service for teaching the subject music at grammar schools.
The four-semester programme is offered at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover in cooperation with the Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH). The successful completion is the prerequisite for admission to the preparatory service. In this master''s programme, special emphasis is placed on the widely offered musical sciences in Hanover as well as on a music pedagogy oriented towards later school practice.

The focus of study at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover lies on historical and systematic musicology as well as music ethnology and music pedagogy, which sees itself as a bridge to school practice. Internships, which are intensively prepared, supervised and evaluated, are therefore of particular importance. In the so-called specialization subject, music-related experiences are also reflected in music didactics and methodology.
The degree programme aimes at students with a successful degree in the study programme Interdisciplinary bachelor at the HMTMH / Leibniz Universität Hannover or a comparable bachelor degree "School Music High Schools" from other music colleges and universities.
The master's programme qualifies for teaching at German grammar schools and thus forms the prerequisite for admission to the preparatory service.
