Energy of the Future

Leibniz University Hannover in Science Year 2025

Increasing demand for energy, limited resources and climate change – in 2025, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s Science Year is dedicated to the topic “Energy of the Future” and asks the following question: What types of energy will we use in future? At Leibniz University Hannover, researchers are working across disciplines on solutions for the energy transition, including within the key research area Energy Research. In Science Year 2025, the university invites members of the public to attend a variety of events where they can learn more about the research currently underway, reflect on developments in economic and societal perspectives, and enter into discussion on the energy of the future.

Green Powered City – LUH on the MS Wissenschaft exhibition ship

May–September
Stops across the country, including in Hannover
(Mittellandkanal, 30 May–3 June 2025)

MS Wissenschaft is a floating science centre commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to travel throughout Germany – packed with exhibits related to the Science Year. In 2025, an LUH exhibit is on board: the miniature “green powered city” from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science invites visitors to immerse themselves in the future of energy. It shows which possibilities exist for producing, storing and using renewable energies in the city.
