Leibniz University Hannover encourages applications from and appointments of university lecturers by actively supporting their partners with their professional reorientation in Hannover and the surrounding region. Services for dual-career couples are offered by the Hannover Science Initiative’s career network, the coordination centre of which is located at Leibniz University Hannover.

The Family Service advises Leibniz University Hannover employees on reconciling work and family life (through career planning, coaching/upskilling programmes, contemporary work models, etc.). In particular, it provides newly appointed professors with information on childcare and the school system.

To welcome newly appointed professors, the university provides a structured programme to help them settle in. During their first 100 days at Leibniz University Hannover, newly appointed professors have a central contact person from the university’s management team who is available to answer any questions they may have.

The Welcome Centre at Leibniz University Hannover’s International Office supports new international professors and their families with all organisational matters associated related to arriving and living in Hannover.

To prepare professors for current and future professional situations, the human resources development programmes help them expand their cross-disciplinary and job-related skills. Examples include internal upskilling and coaching programmes in areas such as teaching skills, leadership skills, administrative management and personal skills.
