The Institute of Philosophy welcomes applications for the following position starting April 1, 2025: Academic Staff (Postdoctoral Researcher, m/f/d) in the field of practical philosophy (salary scale 13 TV-L, 100%, FwN)

The position is attached to the Chair for Practical Philosophy, particularly Ethics of Science (Professor Dr. Dietmar Hübner) and is initially limited to a duration of 3 years, with the possibility of extension. The position is remunerated according to salary scale “E13 TV-L” (Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Länder).

Your role

The position is meant to serve the individual academic qualification of the holder and to provide general support for the Chair in research and teaching. The successful candidate is expected to do administrative work for the Institute and to contribute to the Institute’s teaching program (2 classes per semester).

Responsibilities and duties include independent research in the fields of general ethics, free will and moral responsibility, and/or applied ethics (ethics of AI, biomedical ethics). Teaching shall be focussed on the practical philosophy modules of the BA and MA programs of the Institute (Philosophy, Values & Norms, Philosophy of Science).

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate must hold a university science degree in philosophy. A Ph.D. in philosophy and previous work in some of the above-mentioned fields are expected. Applicants should have a general interest in philosophy of science and be fluent in English.
