Student Advisory Services deals with questions and concerns that (prospective) students may have relating to choosing a course of study or completing their degree programme. Our goal is to give young people an idea of what university is about, and to offer guidance to students not only when they are embarking on a degree, but also throughout their time at the university. We achieve this by providing orientation events, information and advisory services.

What we do

  • Taster and orientation events
  • Information events and hands-on activities
  • Visits to schools
  • Education fairs
  • Offers to help students prepare for university
  • Advice and information before starting university, and throughout your degree programme

Who do we advise?

We offer competent, objective and free advice on all matters relating to university to

  • Prospective students and high school students
  • Students
  • Graduates
  • Parents and teachers
  • Prospective students who do not have Abitur (A-levels)
  • Prospective students and students with a disability

When should I contact Student Advisory Services?

Our information and advisory services are designed to respond to the individual needs and concerns of students seeking advice. We provide information to all those interested in studying, and provide advice with the client in mind, without prejudging the outcome.

During our consultations, we provide information and offer confidential advice on any questions and concerns relating to your studies.

We also offer a variety of information and orientation events at schools in the Hannover region, at education fairs and here at the university

It goes without saying that our advisory services are available free of charge.

We provide Advice on

  • Access to higher education and application requirements
    (including starting university without Abitur)
  • Decision-making processes
    (e.g. related to choices of degree programme, changing courses, the transition from bachelor’s to master’s, when having doubts about university)
  • Personal and/or study-related challenges
    (e.g. starting university, change processes, exam stress, workload problems, etc.)
  • Crisis situations
