A quicker route to the top
Leibniz University Hannover offers academics an outstanding and diverse research environment. It aims to encourage excellent young academics, identify suitable professors at an early stage and retain them at Leibniz University Hannover.
The Process
We recommend that candidates contact the prospective host institute or the relevant faculty at Leibniz University Hannover as early as the application planning phase for one of the above-mentioned types of funding. At the initiative of the Presidential Board and the faculty, a review of a potential tenure-track model can then commence while the application for third-party funding is being drawn up. The Presidential Board, faculty and institute will then liaise to assess the fit and compatibility of the junior research group with the university’s research profile. They will also look at whether the faculty could provide a tenured position.
If a tenured position is identified, a shorter appointment process can begin following assessment by the funding body and once the second stage of the application process has been reached. The prerequisite for appointment is the approval of the junior research group. If the junior research group has already been approved, the assessment of the fit and, if necessary, the accelerated appointment process can start immediately after contact is made and the approval documents have been received.
Where tenure-track professors are appointed through the fast-track process, the interim and tenure evaluations are carried out in line with the quality assurance standards of the regulations for tenure-track processes.
